New friends, friendly old flings, ex-quasi-boyfriends, former <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regis-nyc.org\">Regians<\/a> turned fellow Brooklyn homos, new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epenthesis.org\">pals with blogs<\/a>, sexy ex-junkies, cheerleaders, punk rock fags, a former classmate who\u2019s become a popular <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.citysearch.com\/feature\/24793\/\">drag king<\/a>, flirtations and brief kisses, flirtations that went nowhere, lots of coffee, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedonkeyshow.com\">bad ideas that are even worse in practice<\/a>, frigid strolls, and the news that one of my closest friends has cancer, and another is probably going to die from the cancer she\u2019s been battling.<\/p>\n<p>No wonder I feel so overwhelmed when late-winter gloom and the <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/Quotes?Breakfast+at+Tiffany%27s+(1961)\">mean reds<\/a> set in, robbing me of all the energy I need to deal with everyday life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I finally told my depression to go fuck itself and went back out into the world this weekend, and what did I find?
