For instance, let\u2019s take a look at the numbers on <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/webfonts\/family?family=Copse&amp;subset=latin#description\">Copse<\/a>, the single-weight design I contributed last month:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ultrasparky.org\/blog\/img\/copse_stats.png\" alt=\"copse_stats.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not entirely sure of all the factors that go into the font\u2019s \u201ctrending\u201d or \u201cpopularity\u201d rankings (which I imagine strip out the unusual spike from a couple of weeks ago), but I\u2019m pretty pleased with the big figure: over a million uses of Copse in the last 30 days! That\u2019s pretty&#8230;well, wow. I would love to actually see some sites that are using it, because I know this one doesn\u2019t get traffic like that. A big thanks to everyone in Brazil, by the way \u2014 whoever you are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now Google has added a new feature that changes my little experiment a bit: they\u2019ve added the ability for users to donate a payment of their choice for using a font. (See the <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/webfonts\/family?family=Copse&amp;subset=latin#download\">download<\/a> link on any font\u2019s page.) So now my free font might lead to some royalties, of a kind. That\u2019s no a bad thing at all.
