{"id":1381,"date":"2005-05-13T14:01:31","date_gmt":"2005-05-13T14:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ultrasparky.org\/blog\/2005\/05\/13\/sacrilege\/"},"modified":"2024-12-03T19:19:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T03:19:42","slug":"sacrilege","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ultrasparky.org\/blog\/2005\/05\/13\/sacrilege\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacrilege"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Just when I thought things couldn&#8217;t get any worse,<\/strong> I discover that they&#8217;re making a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hallmarkent.com\/property.php?propertyId=PoseidonAdventur\">TV miniseries<\/a> based on one of my all-time favorite movies (for reasons both high and low), <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theposeidonadventure.com\">The Poseidon Adventure<\/a>.<\/i> That could&#8217;ve been a bad enough idea on its own (because you <i>don&#8217;t fuck with a classic,<\/i> OK?), but they managed to make it worse. This time, the ship isn&#8217;t capsized by a tidal wave \u2014 it&#8217;s capsized by&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hallmarkent.com\/property.php?propertyId=PoseidonAdventur&amp;page=synopsis\">TERRORISTS!<\/a><\/strong> Aaaaaaaah! The Boogeyman is coming!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s especially goofy, since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gothamist.com\/archives\/2005\/04\/17\/nyc_cruise_ship_sidetracked_by_big_wave.php\">cruise ships hit by giant waves<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake\">tsunamis<\/a> and such are actually more topical lately. But I suppose they&#8217;re still not alarmist enough for television drama.<\/p>\n<p>So now the main character is Detective&#8230;er&#8230;.Homeland Security agent Mike Rogo, who is no longer a crusty Ernest Borgnine type, but instead a lantern-jawed action hero who is handcuffed to one of the terrorists the whole time (or, according to the press release: \u201chandcuffed together in a personal war of justice, sacrifice, and revenge\u201d). <i>Terror!
